BOTM: OPENxENVE WIDE - PART 1

Andy Kessler - 20-Jan-2021
Ok, I recommend you not to read this blog until the end... you will waste too much precious time. Just look at the pictures first and then make a quick decision and click here if you have no good OPEN dealer near you. If you know a good OPEN dealer near you contact them now...

I hate to repeat myself, but after the experience we had with our Pistachio Limited Edition I know already, this one will be gone in a minute also (Hey, you are still reading don't tell me I did not tell you...)

Here is a small teaser gallery. On February 4 we officially launch this edition together with ENVE as they have something nice and special to show also... You gonna see more pics and videos then...

Couple of quick points:

This limited edition comes with the brand new ENVE adventure fork (and no, for regular production we stick to our U-Turn fork).

We ship end of January.

Retail of the frameset is 3400 EUR/US$/CHF.

If you miss this one (and if you are still reading that will be the case....) then we should get pretty good supply of our standard colors grey, orange and turquoise by the end of this month. We also have pretty good stock of our complete WIDE's and kits late January/early February... But with the current high demand situation also that could change any day.

You can always contact me I still might find a dealer that was quick (not all OPEN dealers will be quick...)

And here and update:  this has sold out by now....

Hi, I'm also 179/180 cm tall and went to a bike fitting beforehand: the recommendation here was a bike in M with a 110 mm stem. And I am also very satisfied with it. Sascha

Oh you JERKS, now you’ve gone and made me regret buying my pistachio wide :p

I was wondering if this fork would work, as the cage mounts would be really nice. Maybe someday l’ll get one and have it painted to match the pistachio.

Today, for a little moment, I got excited thinking I could get it in another color... Illusions xD
Why can't we buy your marvelous machine complete in other colors?

I would be interested in the adventure fork only if the rear triangle of the Wi.De was extended. This would give more stability, without sacrificing too much of that precious handling, plus it would open up room for 50mm tires in 700c which would pair very well with the adventure fork's clearances.

Quick question - what are the relative pros and cons of the Open U-Turn fork vs the Enve fork. Are there any major differences in handling or clearance? Or are they essentially the same thing?

Thank you for your prompt reply Andy. I currently ride a Specialized Allez (56cm) that has a stack of 575 mm and a reach of 392 mm and given my wingspan of 185 Cm I thought I would be a large frame on the UPPER. But given my height and inseam it looks like a medium UPPER as you suggested. Would you still say so? Looking forward to your response and eventually getting my UPPER ready for the spring! Cheers.

Its is indeed very nice, but a pale coulor next to drive train and disc brakes are to be avoided at all cost. Please reverse them, and you will that way achieve à next level of detail(s)

Would like to buy a U.P. in size large but am concerned about short (150mm) head tube. Is that dimension in your geometry chart correct? The same dimension on the Min.D. Is 184mm.

Hi John. The reason why the head tube is shorter compared to the MIN.D. is because of the longer axle-crown length of the UP fork.

Hi,
All the beautiful WI.DE frames sets (Pistachio & Enve) were sold in a split second.....
So my idea was to buy an unpainted WI.DE frame.

Do you have any recommendations on frame painters? At the end of the day I could paint my own limited edition!
Or are there more special editions WI.DE in the pipeline for 2021?

Thanks
