BOTM: Start U.P. - part 1

Gerard Vroomen - 11-Aug-2017
Although our Bike of the Month is often some sort of "dream bike" with exotic components, but I really like it when we go the other way and make it as affordable as we can without compromising performance. And so it is with this month's UP.

So if you have been dreaming about owning an UP but want a budget build to go with it, the next few episodes of the BOTM are for you. And after part 3, we'll have a special surprise for you, so stay tuned (and make sure to sign up for our newsletter if you haven't already).

Great approach! Building up my U.P.P.E.R. state of the art, I wonder where all my money goes... :-)
Quite refreshing to showcase a more affordable built, proving that leaving the unbeaten path does not depend on funds.

I've ran mine on a number of configuration, most of the time I use Zipp 30 wheels, but sometimes I use DT Swiss X1900 (which are 221e) and it performs well.

Yep, the X1900 is a good, solid wheelset that doesn't break the bank.

The entire industry seems to be going to flat mount brakes. Are you going to flat mounts on the UP anytime soon? If so, when?

Was wondering where this one went, then decided I should write something about mine since the build is quite similar. For anyone interested this is here: https://opencyc...y-luc
