Riding & Racing at top speedU.P. & U.P.PER. 2.0
10 years after the OPEN U.P. defined the gravel bike, we have perfected it with the U.P. 2.0 and superlight U.P.PER. 2.0
Highlights.
Differences U.P. 2.0 & U.P.PER. 2.0.
Aero where it matters,
Comfort where it counts.
Aero matters most up-front (headtube, fork, bars, downtube), where airflow is still smooth. But aero is moot if the bike is too harsh to stay aero yourself on long rides. We optimize aero and compliance together, through tube design and carbon layup.
As we go further back on the frame, comfort always beats aero. The seattube, chainstay & seatstay shapes ensure the comfort OPEN is known for. As a bonus, the ultra-thin seatstays keep the frontal area small. They even get a micro-aero treatment.
OPEN B.A.R.
(Break All Rules).
One-piece bar-stems look nice and can be light, but lack adjustability. Enter the OPEN B.A.R., with its closed-form 100% carbon composite design. No threaded inserts or vertical cut for the clamping bolts, just continuous fibers for the best weight, stiffness & strength.
Even better, our patented internal clamp system lets you adjust stem length by 15mm in 5mm steps. Often you can even adjust the length without undoing the brake hoses.
With 10 different bars, there is always one perfect for you. Welcome to the OPEN B.A.R. Cheers!
Note: Previous generation OPEN frame riders will usually convert to the same frame size of the U.P.(PER). 2.0 with a 10mm shorter stem to compensate for the 10mm longer effective frame reach (ignore standard reach in the geometry chart for this purpose). So keep that in mind when selecting your OPEN B.A.R. size.
Fork options.
We love fork design, where tire clearance, steering geo, aerodynamics, compliance, cargo, braking efficiency all come together.
The U.P.(PER) 2.0 has 2 fork options, each in 5 sizes.
Design is in the details.
Made In Freedom
If we have to characterize what OPEN means to us in one word, it’s freedom. Ultimately that is the feeling we get when riding our bikes, and we hope you do too. For us personally, OPEN also represents freedom in a different way, free from the usual pressures of the (bike) business, of “new and improved” product launches and sales targets.
A few years ago, seeing everything that was happening in the world, we concluded that freedom needs to permeate everything we do at OPEN. While we are under no illusion that a tiny bike company can change the world, we simply didn't want to support anything "un-free" anymore.
To be very clear, we do this because WE want to do this. We hope you agree, but it's totally fine if you don't. This is not a virtue competition, everybody should run their lives and businesses as they see fit.
At the same time, we have been working for years on pushing production to the next level, with the MIN.D. California and several other projects. This all comes together in moving our frame production to our partner Carbonteam in Portugal. Their commitment, the production technology and the quality control are second to none, and the people are wonderful. So truly a win-win.

Option 1: Various standard colors, see webstore.
Option 2: Raw-Ready-To-Paint (RRTP)
For custom painting, start with RRTP and work with your own custom painter or one of our partners to create the frame of your dreams.
A clearcoat is recommended to protect against scratches and wear (but not required for UV protection). Some customers keep the frame RRTP.
For serious gravel and off-road (on any brand of bike), we recommend a rear derailleur with a clutch or cage damper for chain management. The U.P.(PER.) 2.0 is compatible with the following electronic groupsets:
- All SRAM AXS
- All Shimano GRX Di2
- Campagnolo Super Record 13 with nano clutch rear derailleur (RD02-SR13DHWRLC (max 36T for 2x or 1x fast) or RD02-SRX13WRL (max 48T))
T47 threaded bottom bracket (internal cups) with 86mm wide BB shell
Shimano GRX 1x: 52T (Shimano offers up to 46T, aftermarket aero rings from for example WolfTooth available up to 52T)
SRAM AXS 1x: 52T (SRAM offers up to 50T, aftermarket aero rings from for example WolfTooth available up to 52T)
Shimano GRX 2x: all cranksets (maximum offered is 48-31T)
SRAM AXS 2x: all cranksets (maximum offered is to 50-37T)

These can be found at any competent bike store.
Round 27.2. Compatible with many brands and models including dropper and/or suspension seatposts.
Safe-pilot hole on seatpost (hole blocked by seatpost indicates sufficient insertion).
Integrated computer mount
Compatible with Garmin, Wahoo & Hammerhead (using Hammerhead's Wahoo-insert).
Integrated GoPro mount
Compatible with GoPro and other compatible devices (lights, etc).
We recommend Direct Drive indoor trainers only.
These are trainers where you remove the rear wheel of your bike and install the bike onto a cassette that is fixed onto the trainer.
Some of the most popular compatible Direct Drive indoor trainers are (but others may work too):
- Wahoo KICKRmove, KICKR, KICKR 2, KICKRcore
- Elite Justo 2, Rivo, Rivo Zwift cog&click, Avanti Zwift cog&click, Turno
- Tacx Neo 2T, Neo 3M, Flux 2, Flux S
IMPORTANT:
- Some trainers may require an adaptor to fit the frame. The U.P.(PER) 2.0 uses a 142x12 thru-axle with M12x1.0 thread.
- These trainers are compatible with our FRAME, but you must check compatibility with your GROUPSET. For example, not all trainers are compatible with 13s cassettes or may require an adaptor.

Geometry.
New* geometry is even more agile despite bigger tires and very consistent in every size.
